Overview

World missions form a core purpose for which World Gospel Church was founded. The “World” in the church’s name reflects the concern and vision of the founding pastor and members. The message of the Christian Gospel is to send missionaries locally and around the world. At the initial service of the church held in January of 1957, the then small congregation agreed to help support a young missionary couple, Paul & Lois Steward. That relationship and support continued throughout the couple’s 40 years of service in Bolivia, South America. From that focused beginning, the missions’ emphasis has continued. Our church currently shares in the financial and prayer support for over 40 local ministries, campus ministries, and over-seas missionary families in 23 countries. Currently we fund seven scholarships that support National Pastors-In-Training in Home Country Seminaries and Bible Schools. Many of our church members have participated in Short-Term Mission Work or Witness Teams that are sent to serve areas where our missionary families are already established. The development of support through our finances and prayers has created a sense of world wide family. Our extended missions families are working in ministries of evangelism, Bible studies or cell groups, seminary and Bible school teaching, pastoral training, discipleship, medical work, education, agriculture, radio, campus and youth outreach, and church development. Our missionaries bring into their settings the service, message, and witness of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Conference

An annual October missions conference provides an opportunity to invite furloughing and U.S. based missionaries to communicate their work, joys, and challenges with the congregation. Through major messages, brief field reports, displays, small group meetings in homes, videos, and personal conversations, the annual gathering of typically 14 to 18 missions and ministry representatives inspires faith and enlarges individual awareness of the world and the variety of missionary tasks.

The Task

The task of missions, helping to send missionaries around the world, remains a scriptural mandate for Christians and those involved at World Gospel Church are inspired and challenged by this founding vision.
